WANG YI-TING 王怡婷
Wang Yi-Ting currently lives and works in Taipei.
Her works explore the rhythmic relationships between time, space, material, image, and energy through the concepts of sculpture and spatial composition. In recent years, the "Coastline Project" has involved surveys and visual documentation of coastlines across Taiwan, delving into the ambiguous boundaries shaped by geography, natural environment, and human behavior. It reconstructs the visible and invisible aspects of coastlines through imagination, creating a new landscape situated between reality and imagination; finite and infinite; natural and artificial. Through various forms of measurement and marking, it gauges the ambiguous relationship between people and the sea, at times exploring the distance between human and ocean, and at others transforming into a form of spiritual landscape-based inquiry. This project was presented in September at Galerie Grand siècle as "Coastline Project II," and solo exhibition "Sea Rhythm" at MOCA Taipei. Another notable work, "Disembodied Postures," was selected for the Taipei Arts Awards in 2019; "Retro" participated in the Magie Verte exhibition in Bordeaux, France in 2020. In the same year, she held a solo exhibition titled "Impromptu" at Haitong Art Center. She had art residencies at the Vermont Studio in the United States, the Gwangju Museum of Art in South Korea, and the Soulangh Culture Park in Tainan.
